For this post, I’m taking inspiration from one of my favourite blogs: Wish You Were Here by Bethany Joy Lenz.
I keep seeing so much negativity online; I want to focus on the positive so I’m going to start sharing things I find that I think are really cool, so here goes.
1. Vintage Camera Charm

If you’ve read any of my previous posts, you’ve probably realised that I’m a photography nut. About a month ago (while doing some christmas shopping online), I stumbled across this Vintage Camera Charm from one of my favourite Etsy Sellers. After a grand total of 5 minutes scouring the rest of Etsy to see if I could find anything, even remotely similar I came to the conclusion that I would regret it if I didn’t buy this one.
About a week later, my little gem arrived in the post, in the cutest little package (see below). Needless to say, I am VERY happy with my purchase.
2. The Book of Awesome
At my last agency, we started our Monday Morning status meetings with an “awesome”. Essentially a “warm-and-fuzzy” to lift everyone’s spirits and start the week off on the right foot. Each week someone new was assigned the responsibility of picking an awesome to share the following week (either from the book, or sharing one of our own). More often than not this resulted in a number of “extra awesome’s” from the wider team thrown in for good measure.
After a couple of weeks, it was my turn as the resident “newbie”. That weekend, I’d flicked through the book and settled on “The moment at a concert after the lights go out and before the band comes onstage” but a few minutes before the meeting started, I received an email from the Co-Founder of the Toronto Animation Arts Festival International (TAFFI); A few days before, I’d helped out by shooting some photographs for a film screening by Don Hertzfeldt.
The last sentence of that email read “Thanks again for all of your help Emma, you are awesome”. That email reminded me that it is really awesome when someone appreciates something you’ve done, and even more awesome when they go out of their way to let you know that they appreciate it.
I miss this awesome and uplifting weekly tradition. I’m hoping that there might be room for it (or at least something similar) at my new agency.
3. Angel Delight.
A friend of mine recently reminded me of Angel Delight; a tasty powdered pudding that you whip up with Milk, and put in the fridge to chill for 5 minutes before serving. Available in a number of flavours, this is a quick, light and easy dessert adored by children and adults alike.
I hadn’t had Angel Delight in years, but now seem to be totally hooked. So much so that I asked for some to be added to my latest care package from the UK (I got teased a bit for this).
